Faith Promise

I hope you had the opportunity to attend our Mission Emphasis Weekend on March 30.  It was a great day.  Enterprise First UMC supports many missionaries and mission organizations through our Faith Promise Giving.  Our Mission Emphasis helps us catch a glimpse of how God uses our giving and their obedience to serve God, and to reach others in God’s name with love and grace.  Each day we face a world here in Enterprise that is fairly comfortable to us.  Most days we know what to expect, and go about our lives with our families, work and activities.  God uses events like the Mission Emphasis to open our minds and hearts to the world outside of Enterprise.

What is a Faith Promise?  It is different from a church pledge.  It is not a pledge made to the church; it is a covenant between you and God.  You prayerfully ask God for an amount that you can give to missions that is above and beyond your current level of giving.  Then through your faith and trust in the Heavenly Father, believe that God will supply this need in support of mission outreach.  The amount you give and whether or not you give, will be strictly between you and God.  If God supplies, you give.  If God does not supply, you don’t give.  Faith is “trust” and Promise is “hope.”

God is an awesome God, and is at work throughout the world.  As Methodists, we are called to follow the words of John Wesley who said, “The World is my parish.”  And Jesus said, “. . . and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)

We had a good response on Sunday to our Faith Promise, but I know that many have not yet made a Faith Promise response.  If you have not yet made a Faith Promise, I encourage you to do so, believing that God will supply this need.
